This object focused exhibition is based on three topics - Three Mothers, Stone Heads and Mercury reliefs – within the theme of Romano-British religion. The exhibit will examine the interaction and merging of Roman and local religion in Northern Britain. Our aim is to challenge preconceptions about Roman Imperialism by exploring the ways in which local religious identity continued and adapted under Roman rule.
